Zayo Europe is set for network growth in the United Kingdom and Germany
Zayo Europe, a prominent network infrastructure provider, has initiated a significant expansion of its network, enhancing its service capabilities and offering greater reach, flexibility, and resilience to customers across the continent. This pan-European effort is aimed at connecting a diverse range of data centres, strengthening its position as a key player in the industry.
In the first half of 2025, Zayo Europe increased the route miles it powers by 61%, compared to the second half of 2024. This growth was particularly notable in the UK, where there was a 241% increase, and Germany, where the route miles increased by 173%. This expansion is attributed to the company's strategic partnership with GasLINE.
The workforce expansion is another crucial aspect of Zayo Europe's growth strategy. In H1 2025, the company increased its workforce by 10%, resulting in new hires touching almost every element of the company. The new hires were made in areas such as delivery, service excellence, finance, and people management.
One of the key acquisitions that contributed to this growth is the Emerald Bridge subsea cable, which offers G.652D dark fiber and high-capacity wave services from the UK to Dublin, Ireland. The full acquisition of this cable was carried out by Aqua Comms in H1 2025. Zayo Europe's recent acquisition of the Emerald Bridge subsea cable is expected to continue the company's growth into H2 2025 and beyond.
Colman Deegan, CEO at Zayo Europe, views H1 2025 as a pivotal period for the company. He emphasises the importance of service excellence in Zayo Europe's ability to secure new partnerships and mission-critical connectivity projects. This focus on service excellence has been instrumental in Zayo Europe's success, enabling the company to empower businesses, large enterprises, and consumers with the reliable, high-performance network infrastructure they rely on daily.
The growth achieved by Zayo Europe so far in 2025 is testament to the strength and dedication of its team. As the company continues to grow, it aims to maintain this momentum throughout the rest of 2025 and well into 2026. With its expanded network and strengthened workforce, Zayo Europe is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of its customers and continue its trajectory of success.
