Yutong Unveils Next-Gen Battery Electric Intercity Bus IC12E at UITP Summit Hamburg 2025, Highlighting Progress in Electrification Technologies

At the UITP Summit Hamburg 2025, Yutong Bus showcased its groundbreaking electric intercity bus, the IC12E, designed specifically for the European market. This new generation vehicle combines safety, efficiency, comfort, and intelligent management systems, making it a compelling choice for Europe's move towards sustainable, zero-emission intercity transportation.

### Key Features

The IC12E boasts a 12-meter body, capable of carrying up to 95 passengers, supported by a high-strength, robust closed-ring body structure. This robust design ensures safety and durability, making it ideal for the rigours of intercity travel. The bus also integrates Yutong's YESS battery safety system, further enhancing overall operational safety.

With a top speed of 100 km/h, the IC12E meets the speed requirements of intercity services. Its strong power performance, with a gradeability of 20%, allows it to handle continuous uphill sections, such as those in Norway. Rapid charging capabilities are another standout feature, with the bus able to charge from 13% to 99% State of Charge (SOC) in just 1 hour and 40 minutes using a single charging gun.

### Performance Highlights

During a pioneering 1,272 km cross-border test through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, the IC12E demonstrated exceptional energy efficiency, with an average energy consumption of only 0.7 kWh/km. This is notably 30–40% more efficient than comparable models like Daimler’s eIntouro, which consumes 0.9–1.0 kWh/km.

Under standard conditions (SORT test), the IC12E achieves a practical range of over 600 km on a full charge, with peak optimized driving extending to 1,272 km. In specific tests, the bus completed a 510 km range challenge with the SOC dropping from 99% to 31%, still indicating a remaining range of 170 km, underscoring its extended range capability and operational reliability.

The IC12E's battery capacity is up to 560 kWh, supporting long-distance travel typical of intercity routes.

### Summary

Yutong’s IC12E intercity bus sets a new standard in electric public transit with outstanding energy efficiency, rapid charging, strong power output, and high passenger capacity. This model reflects a significant leap forward in balancing range, charging speed, passenger comfort, and safety, solidifying Yutong’s position as a leader in electric bus innovation.

Yutong continues to create greater value for customers by enhancing public travel experiences with green, safe, and comfortable mobility solutions. The IC12E, along with the premium city bus U12, were the flagship models displayed at the UITP Summit 2025 in Hamburg, Germany.
