X's global impact unveiled
Worldwide Disruption Hits Elon Musk's Platform X
Elon Musk's online platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has been impacted by a global outage, affecting thousands of users worldwide. The cause of the outage remains unclear, but the platform's engineering team has acknowledged the issue.
On May 23, the engineering team confirmed active efforts to resolve the problem following a data center outage. This outage comes after a previous incident in March, which Musk described as a "massive cyberattack" involving a large, coordinated group. However, the May outage is specifically attributed to data center issues rather than a cyberattack.
Thousands of users reported issues on platforms like all-outages.de. Around 3 PM, over 2500 incidents were reported on the network, with users unable to send new posts and timelines failing to update. The analysis firm Netblocks reported outages for some users for the second time this week, but the international issues do not seem to be related to internet disruptions or filtrations in certain countries.
Reports from German newspaper "Bild" and Wired.com suggested a fire in a data center in Oregon as the possible cause of the problems. Local media reported a fire that occurred on Thursday, with the fire breaking out in a room containing batteries. However, the exact cause of the outage has yet to be confirmed.
The outage affected both desktop and mobile versions, with a particular emphasis on browser-related issues. The platform experienced disruptions across various countries, including the United States, India, and others.
