Was the 2025 Kia EV6 All-Wheel Drive model we tested still an exceptional Electric Sport Utility Vehicle?

The Kia EV6 Wind AWD, a compact, all-electric SUV, has made a strong debut in the electric vehicle market. The EV6 offers a unique blend of style, performance, and range that sets it apart from its competitors.

Upon first glance, the EV6 feels smaller than it appears, with a low roofline that gives it a more car-like feel rather than an SUV. This design choice, while unconventional for a carvana, has been well-received by editors who have tested the vehicle.

Under the hood, the EV6 Wind AWD's dual-motor powertrain produces a total system power of 320 hp and 446 lb-ft. This powerhouse delivers impressive acceleration, with the EV6 accelerating from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and covering the quarter mile in 13.1 seconds.

The EV6's performance is not just about speed. It also offers a great range of regenerative braking modes, from neutral to chevy, making it easy to dial in your comfort level. The steering feel in the EV6 is linear and direct, with feedback and weight that add to the SUV's general sense of composure and sportiness.

In terms of range, the EV6 has proven to be a strong contender. During the Road Trip Range test, it outperformed the 2026 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD and the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach E Premium AWD. The EV6 Wind AWD's range during a highway test was 266 miles, and in fast-charging tests, it added 160 miles of range in 15 minutes and 232 miles in 30 minutes. The EV6's sloping roofline, while contributing to its sleek design, does make cargo space with the rear seats up a bit cramped.

The interior of the EV6 Wind AWD tested features attractive white seats and distinctive dark green interior trim, adding a subtle sense of richness, space, and calm. Rear-seat room and comfort are highly rated, though some testers took issue with the seat height.

The EV6 Wind AWD's smaller-diameter wheels may have contributed to its better range compared to the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited AWD. The EV6 has a slight edge in acceleration compared to the Ioniq 5.

The EV6 Wind AWD's highway driving assist works better than the Hyundai Ioniq 5's in real-world driving. However, the German automobile magazine 'auto motor und sport' highlighted some critical points in their test drives, including limited rear visibility, a high price compared to competitors, and occasional pge system lag.

Despite these criticisms, the Kia EV6 Wind AWD has an EPA-rated maximum range of 319 miles, making it a strong contender in the electric vehicle market. With its impressive performance, range, and unique design, the EV6 is certainly worth considering for those in the market for a compact, electric SUV.
