Von ehemaligem VW-Chef Diess hat Elon Musk über seine Leistung gerutzt
In a recent interview with the "Wolfsburg Allgemeine Zeitung," former VW CEO Herbert Diess criticized Tesla founder Elon Musk, labelling him an "enemy of Europe." Diess, now the chairman of the supervisory board at technology company Infineon, expressed concerns over Musk's political alignment and its impact on Tesla's brand and sales.
According to Diess, Musk's open support for Donald Trump and involvement in political campaigns has caused a significant decline in Tesla's customer loyalty since mid-2024. Data analysis shows that Tesla's customer loyalty dropped from 73% in June 2024 to just under 50% by March 2025, a dramatic shift that coincides with Musk's political association [1]. This political association appears to have alienated some Tesla customers, contributing to a challenging environment for the brand in the U.S. market.
Diess also pointed out Tesla's weak sales, attributing them to the company's significant lead having shrunk in recent years due to the entry of the Chinese market. Moreover, he implied that Tesla has not generated enough attention or been innovative enough compared to its competitors.
In addition, Diess criticized Musk for his political positioning as far-right and anti-democratic, stating that he has positioned himself against European values, democracy, and society.
Interestingly, Diess's remarks underscore a broader competitive and leadership challenge in the EV sector, with Tesla's controversial actions and statements providing a cautionary tale for the industry [1][3]. As it stands, VW now sells twice as many electric cars as Tesla [2].
