Volkswagen AG Shifts to Flexible Feedback Culture for 110,000 Employees
Volkswagen AG is transforming its feedback culture, making it more flexible and individual for around 110,000 employees across German sites like Braunschweig, Emden, Hannover, Kassel, Salzgitter, and Wolfsburg. The change encourages continuous feedback throughout the year, replacing the previous mandatory conversation held between November and February.
The new voluntary regulation allows employees and managers to initiate conversations at any time. Workers can also seek feedback independently of the conversation. However, certain exceptions apply. Talents aiming for higher-value tasks and managers at all levels, including Bernd Osterloh, must still conduct the conversation as before. The works council will assess this voluntary approach in the coming year before deciding on the next conversation round's mandatory status.
The conversation, part of the Volkswagen AG employee tariff since 2011, involves assessing performance behavior and contributing to 'performance-oriented remuneration'.
Volkswagen's shift to a more flexible feedback culture aims to empower employees and managers to engage in conversations whenever they deem necessary. The success of this approach will be evaluated by the works council, with the potential for the conversation to regain its mandatory status in the future.
