Visitors exhibit optimism amidst decreased IBC figures
The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) concluded this weekend in Amsterdam, attracting 43,858 visitors from 170 countries. Despite a slight decrease in attendance compared to the previous year, the event brought together global broadcasters, content owners, and tech vendors for four days of industry insights, networking, and innovation.
Michael Crimp, Chief Executive Officer of IBC, expressed his satisfaction with IBC2025, stating that the event delivered real business outcomes with positive feedback from attendees. The conference featured speakers from ITV, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, and other industry professionals, including Thelma Schoonmaker and Bernard MacMahon.
One of the highlights of IBC2025 was the Future Tech hall, a new feature that showcased emerging technologies and collaborative projects. Visitors had the opportunity to explore live demonstrations of generative and agentic AI, immersive and interactive media, cloud-native workflows, private 5G networks, and sustainable innovation.
In a bid to make the event more accessible, IBC integrated Amsterdam's GVB public transport system into attendee badges. This collaboration, involving GVB, RAI Amsterdam, and event badge platform CredsNow, allowed for frictionless access to trams with a scan of the show badge.
The Technical Papers Programme, designed for technologists and companies to present their ideas and research to media industry leaders, is currently underway for the Conference in September 2025. The programme welcomes entries for new technology concepts, their possible uses, and practical applications.
Looking ahead, IBC2026 is scheduled to take place between 11 to 14 September. With the success of IBC2025, expectations are high for the upcoming event, which promises to continue driving innovation and fostering collaboration in the media and entertainment industry.
