Vietnamese firm ABeam Consulting introduces employment application for Japan
The DOLAB-JICA project, a digital initiative aimed at enhancing labour conditions and migrant worker protections in Vietnam and the ASEAN region, has made significant strides since its inception in August 2023.
Led by software development and coordination from ABeam Consulting Vietnam, the project has seen the creation of 159 worker accounts on its platform by April 2025. The DOLAB-JICA application, a digital tool for Vietnamese workers, provides access to verified job postings from Japanese companies approved by the Department of Overseas Labour Management.
The platform has been downloaded 230 times from Google Play and App Store, and it has achieved over 27,000 site visits by April 2025. Users can view essential job details such as company names, job categories, responsibilities, contract duration, salary, allowances, and all costs prior to departure through the application.
The project is not related to several other recent developments in the job market, including the ADB and JICA providing a $12 million loan for water plant expansion, the data industry dominating the job market, or the report outlining directions to advance Vietnam's AI economy.
In a bid to expand its impact beyond Vietnam, the DOLAB-JICA project has been expanding its partnerships with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Japan Platform. This collaboration aims to strengthen labour cooperation, improve labour conditions for migrant workers, and support inclusive workforce development aligned with ASEAN frameworks on migrant worker rights and social transformation goals.
The project aligns with regional commitments to workforce preparation, green jobs, and equitable labour markets against the backdrop of ageing populations and evolving labour demands across ASEAN countries. It reflects a multi-stakeholder approach involving government, international organizations, and private sector players like ABeam Consulting to foster responsible labour practices and societal inclusion.
Training for 263 service providers on DOLAB-JICA platform usage and system operations was conducted by April 2025. By the same date, 956 job postings had been updated on the platform. Ryohei Oda, managing director of ABeam Consulting Vietnam, stated that ABeam Consulting Vietnam is proud to contribute to the DOLAB-JICA project.
Yosuke Kobayashi, chief representative of JICA Vietnam, stated that the goal is to change the paradigm of labor migration by empowering prospective workers through digital transformation. Phase two of the project, which focused on launching the web platform and mobile app, started in April 2024. The goal is to ensure that all workers coming to Japan are effectively protected through this project.
The DOLAB-JICA project is a key part of ABeam's social transformation strategy in Vietnam. It aims to improve social wellbeing, enhance transparency, and protect citizens' rights through technology. The project's ultimate goal is to expand its impact beyond Vietnam, promoting a responsible and inclusive society in the ASEAN region.
The DOLAB-JICA project, in addition to its focus on labour conditions and migrant worker protections, also explores the intersection of finance, technology, and business as it aims to expand beyond Vietnam and promote responsible labour practices. The platform developed by ABeam Consulting Vietnam for Vietnamese workers offers access to verified job postings from Japanese companies, providing crucial financial information such as salary, allowances, and all costs prior to departure, signifying the integration of financial details within its technology-driven business model.
