VDA and Union Faction Collaborate on EV Transition Plan

The Association of the German Automotive Industry (VDA) has been actively involved in shaping the future of the automotive sector. It recently collaborated with the Union faction on a position paper, expressing concerns and proposing solutions for the industry's transition.

The VDA, represented by its President, Klaus Müller, contributed to the Union faction's paper. The association demands a forward-looking expansion of power and hydrogen networks to support the shift towards electric vehicles (EVs).

The VDA also calls for improved mobile phone networks on highways, urging additional funds from special assets infrastructure to modernize them. This move aims to enhance safety and connectivity for drivers.

The Union faction, in its paper, criticizes the 'overreaching combustion engine ban'. It aligns with the VDA's stance, advocating for a balanced approach to the transition. The faction also proposes a qualification program for employees to adapt to the changing industry landscape.

However, Tilman Kuban or his office staff disagree with the proposed qualification program, stating that there is currently no shortage of skilled workers in the sector. Instead, they suggest abolishing or suspending fines related to the 'limit regulation' to ease the transition for automakers.

The VDA's involvement in the position paper, along with the Union faction, reflects the industry's efforts to navigate the shift towards electric vehicles. The VDA demands infrastructure improvements, job creation, and a balanced approach to the transition, while the Union faction proposes employee training and criticizes the combustion engine ban.
