Heat-absorbing fabric from Hopara 2 Aerino utilized in a summer-adapted take on the traditional one-piece garment, labeled as a "shandal."

Upgrading the Hopara 2 hiking sandal by Hoka, natural merino wool is introduced for enhanced breathability and reduced odor.

One year since Hoka introduced the versatile Hopara 2, a fusion of hiking sandal and shoe, the brand has introduced an updated version, boasting enhanced breathability and moisture-wicking properties. The scorching summer months have prompted the California-based company to focus on addressing sweaty feet among hikers. The solution? Merino wool.

The newly unveiled Hoka Hopara 2 Aerino adopts the same design as its predecessor, featuring a hybrid enclosed toe and open sling back for unparalleled protection against rocks and roots, while allowing for easy water drainage during water crossings or coastal hikes. The Aerino's innovative addition, however, lies in its ultra-soft 60% Merino wool blend lining, which effectively wicks away moisture, keeps feet ventilated as temperatures rise, and remarkably resists odor when hiking without socks.

Beyond its moisture-management properties, the Aerino maintains the Hopara 2's build with a sustainable 30% sugarcane foam sole, aggressive 4mm multidirectional lugs in the rubber outsole for superb grip, and quick lace system that streamlines your trail access.

The Hoka Hopara 2 Aerino is now available online, offering both men's and women's sizes for $145.

While specific details on the Hoka Hopara 2 Aerino's performance or user reviews are unavailable at this time, the incorporation of Merino wool in footwear offers several benefits. These advantages include heightened breathability, improved moisture management, temperature regulation, durability, sustainability, and enhanced comfort. The Merino wool lining in the Aerino is likely to deliver these advantages, potentially increasing comfort, performance, and sustainability during hiking activities. Stay tuned for further updates and reviews of the Hoka Hopara 2 Aerino.
