Nintendo has announced that it will be raising prices on several products and accessories within the Nintendo Switch family, effective August 3, 2025. The price adjustments are attributed to market conditions, specifically tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump and subsequent related tariff changes impacting production costs.

The affected items include the original Nintendo Switch consoles (Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite), certain Nintendo Switch accessories (exact items unspecified), some Nintendo Switch 2 accessories (specific items not detailed), select amiibo figures, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo.

However, the price for the Nintendo Switch 2 console itself, its games, both physical and digital, as well as Nintendo Switch Online memberships, will not increase immediately. Nintendo has not provided exact new prices, but the increases will take effect in the U.S.

Target currently prices the Switch 2 Pro Controller the same as before, but both the Joy-Con 2 and the original Switch Joy-Con controllers will now cost more at $100 and $90, respectively. The price of the original Joy-Con charging stand will go up by $5. The prices at Target for the Switch Lite, original Switch, and Switch OLED could be indicative of future price changes on Aug 3.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has become one of the fastest-selling consoles ever, with Nintendo selling more than 6 million units of the Switch 2 globally in the first seven weeks after release. The original Switch and Switch OLED models may cost more going forward, although Nintendo has not announced price increases for the Switch 2 console itself.

In addition, Nintendo raised prices on the Switch 2 Pro Controller, Joy-Con 2 split controllers, and the official Switch 2 Camera peripheral by $5 each. Certain amiibos, select accessories, and the Alarmo bedside clock may also see price increases.

It's best for consumers who still plan to grab Switch 2 accessories to do so now before they cost more. Nintendo did not provide much data on its peripheral sales, but original Switch sales were already declining before the Switch 2 release.

Target increased prices for the Switch Lite, original Switch, and Switch OLED, but later reversed them. This article has been updated to include updated pricing information from Target. Some Nintendo games are already priced at $70 or as much as $80, and a more expensive console may not help Nintendo's older systems.

Digital deals hunter Wario64 spotted price increases at Target for the Switch Lite, original Switch, and Switch OLED. The prices may be indicative of future price changes on Aug 3. Nintendo's announcement comes as the company continues to dominate the gaming market with its popular Switch consoles and games.

  1. AI could predict the potential price increase for smartphones like the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller or Joy-Con 2, based on the recent upward trend in the prices of gadgets related to the Nintendo Switch family.
  2. With the escalating prices of technology products such as smartphones (Nintendo Switch 2) and accessories (Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, Joy-Con 2), some consumers might be inclined to invest in AI technology to optimize their purchasing decisions, given the prevailing market conditions.
