Upcoming debut: Geely Galaxy unveils A7 hybrid saloon on August 8th.
Geely Galaxy Introduces New Plug-In Hybrid Sedan, the A7
The Geely Galaxy has unveiled its latest model, the A7, a plug-in hybrid sedan that promises an impressive range and advanced technology. Scheduled for launch on August 8, the A7 will compete in the mid-size plug-in hybrid segment, going head-to-head with the BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i plug-in hybrid sedans.
Measuring 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, the A7 boasts a spacious interior that prioritizes comfort and technology. The sedan features a dual-spoke steering wheel, a large digital instrument cluster, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, physical climate controls, hidden cupholders, and premium pricked leather upholstery. It is the first Geely model to carry the Flyme Auto smart cockpit system partnered with Meizu, running on Xingrui AI Cloud 2.0, supporting voice control, navigation, entertainment, and over-the-air updates.
Under the hood, the A7 is powered by Geely's advanced EM-i AI Super Hybrid 2.0 powertrain. This system combines a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine (82 kW/110 hp) and a 175 kW (235 hp) electric motor connected via an 11-speed electric drive unit. The sedan offers two battery options: an 8.5 kWh pack providing a CLTC all-electric range of 70 km, and a larger 18.4 kWh pack delivering up to 150 km electric range. The A7 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and achieves a very low combined fuel consumption of 2.67 L/100 km, with a total driving range exceeding 2,100 km combining electric and fuel power.
The A7 is based on Geely's GEA architecture and comes with the G-Pilot H3 assisted driving solution. This system supports urban commuting navigation assistance and highway navigation assistance. Two new, more affordable variants for the A7 were announced on July 18, each equipped with a basic driver assistance system.
A research note by Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin's team on July 15 estimated that the A7's final official starting price will be around RMB 90,000, with monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units. The A7 will be another affordable mid-to-large-sized sedan in the Chinese market.
Interestingly, the A7's battery pack options come from CALB and CALT. The 8.5 kWh battery provides a battery range of 70 km, while the 18.4 kWh battery provides a battery range of 150 km.
In a related development, Geely Galaxy launched the updated E5 electric SUV with a lower price and increased range yesterday.
G-Pilot, unveiled by Geely on March 3, comprises five smart driving solutions. The A7 is not the first Geely model to come with this technology, as it was previously announced that all variants of the A7 would feature the more advanced G-Pilot smart driving system.
Pre-sales of the A7 began on July 11, offering five variants. The Geely Galaxy A7 is one of the new models launched by the company this year, expanding its lineup and catering to a wider range of consumers in the Chinese market.
