Huawei has announced its entry into the electric vehicle market with the Aito M8 EV, a new all-electric SUV that promises to redefine the driving experience. The M8 EV offers both 5-seat and 6-seat configurations, making it a versatile choice for various needs.
At the heart of the Aito M8 EV lies Huawei's self-developed DriveONE high-voltage 7-in-1 electric drive system. This pioneering technology integrates seven key components into a single compact system, saving about 30% of cabin and trunk space compared to traditional layouts. This space-saving design allows for more room for passengers and luggage.
The DriveONE system offers several key advantages. It supports dual A and B power paths for safety redundancy, ensuring fault isolation within milliseconds. This enables the vehicle’s autonomous driving system to maintain operation safely and come to a stop even if a single power supply fails, meeting stringent requirements for higher levels of assisted driving.
The system achieves a CLTC (China Light-Duty Test Cycle) efficiency of 92.2%, meaning that over 92% of the battery’s energy is effectively used to power the vehicle with minimal losses as heat, extending driving range.
Huawei's team utilizes multi-round AI optimization algorithms to achieve optimal motor parameters, while the motor uses ultra-thin 0.2mm silicon steel sheets, self-developed silicon carbide modules, and magnetic steel bonding technologies to enhance both efficiency and performance.
The Aito M8 EV will also feature Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4 for intelligent driving and parking assistance.
The M8 EV boasts several distinctive design features, including dual-lens headlights integrated with air ducts, chrome strip, and auxiliary driving indicator lights. The vehicle also features new 21-inch blacked-out wheels fitted with Pirelli tires, with multi-spoke wheel options available.
The M8 EV maintains the "Kunpeng" design language but features a newly styled front bumper intake grille. A 192-line LiDAR sensor is mounted on the roof of the M8 EV, and it also has a front trunk.
Early bird incentives for the Aito M8 EV include a 5,000 yuan (700 USD) deposit that converts to a 10,000 yuan (1400 USD) discount and a free upgrade to the new Night Violet exterior worth 8,000 yuan (1,120 USD).
The Aito M8 EV will officially launch in August, with prices starting at 378,000 yuan (52,000 USD). With its innovative electric drive system, intelligent driving features, and sleek design, the Aito M8 EV is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
