Twitter's (the company) Indonesian manufacturing of profiles initiates domestically
Xpeng, the innovative electric vehicle (EV) company, is accelerating its global expansion with a focus on AI-driven EVs and localized manufacturing. The company has set a ambitious target of establishing its presence in around 60 countries by 2026.
To kickstart this global expansion, Xpeng has established its first overseas production base in Indonesia. This move is part of Xpeng's regional localization strategy for the Southeast Asian market. The company aims to cover 70% of Indonesia's core urban centers with sales, service infrastructure, and over 2,100 ultra-fast charging stations by the end of 2025.
In Indonesia, Xpeng has already made significant strides. The company has commenced localized production, marking its first such initiative in an overseas market. The first Xpeng MPV assembled in Indonesia, the X9, was delivered to a local owner on an auspicious date, June 26. The right-hand drive version of the X9 was launched in Indonesia with a starting price of 900 million Indonesian rupiah.
Xpeng's business operations in Indonesia are conducted in RMB and IDR. The company began accepting pre-orders for the G6 and X9 in Indonesia on March 16. Indonesia, being the most populous country in Southeast Asia and the region's largest EV market, presents a significant opportunity for Xpeng's growth. The company aims to have its sales and service network cover 85% of high-density areas by the end of this year.
Xpeng's global expansion is not just limited to Indonesia. The company plans to expand its international presence to more than 60 countries and regions this year. Xpeng aims to achieve 50% of its sales from overseas markets in the next 10 years.
The company's focus on AI-powered autonomous driving systems is evident in its products. Xpeng showcased its flying car, the G6 SUV, and the humanoid robot Iron at GIIAS 2025. The X9, Xpeng's first MPV model, was first launched in China on January 1, 2024.
Financially, Xpeng is well-equipped to fund this expansion. The company maintains strong cash reserves of RMB 45.28 billion (approx. $6.3 billion USD) to fuel this expansion and R&D. In Q1 2025, Xpeng achieved a gross margin of 15.6% and positive cash flow of RMB 3 billion, targeting profitability by 2026.
With its aggressive global expansion plan, Xpeng is poised to redefine the international EV market. The company's focus on AI-driven technology and localized manufacturing sets it apart as a leading player in the mobility tech sector.
