TikTok's Restoration on iPhone: Timeline after its Recent Resurfacing on Android Devices?
TikTok finds itself in a peculiar predicament in the United States at the moment. A ban, enforced on January 18, led to the app disappearing for a while before President Trump expressed support and granted a 75-day reprieve. However, the app is yet to reappear on iPhone users' Apple App Store. So, what's the current scenario, and when can we expect a change?
Recently, TikTok surprised the public. On February 8, TikTok announced that U.S. Android users could download the app again through website packages, circumventing app store restrictions. As our source Zak Doffman mentioned, "The app is available [here], but while I don't endorse sideloading, these are unique circumstances."
Unfortunately, Apple users are not yet out of the woods. Apple continues to refrain from listing the app due to legal concerns. Despite President Trump's executive order, the prohibitive law remains in effect, leaving companies like Apple on the hook for potential fines of up to $5,000 for every unauthorized download.
As a result, some savvy individuals have been selling iPhones with TikTok installed at premium prices. However, given that the app is not present in the App Store, it's also not receiving any updates or security patches.
Sideloading the app on iPhones is challenging and typically requires jailbreaking the device, which carries significant security risks and is not recommended.
So, when can Apple users enjoy TikTok once again? With no definite timeline and no potential buyers, such as Elon Musk, showing interest, it seems we'll be waiting for a while until the legal situation is resolved.
The lacking availability of TikTok on the iPhone App Store continues to be a concern for Apple users. Despite the TikTok latest updates and improvements being experienced by Android users, iPhone users are still waiting for the app's reappearance.
