Tesla Launches Spring 2025 Supercharger Voting, Leaving Canada Out of Q1 Winners
Tesla Announces Q1 2025 Supercharger Winners, Expanding Canadian Network
Tesla has announced the winners of the Q1 2025 Supercharger voting, with several Canadian locations securing new fast-charging stations. The winning Canadian cities include Hope, British Columbia, and sites in Ontario such as Ottawa, Mississauga, and Beamsville. This expansion will add over 70 new V4 stalls to the Canadian Supercharger network, improving charging access and reducing wait times.
The expansion of Tesla's Supercharger network in Canada is expected to continue, as the company actively opens new sites and invites community voting for upcoming quarters. This growth is a reflection of strong demand and expanding EV adoption in the country.
In a significant move, Tesla has also opened its Supercharger network to non-Tesla EVs, such as GM's 2026 model-year vehicles using the North American Charging Standard. This broadens the potential user base and profitability for these charging stations in Canada and beyond.
Canada's emergence as a critical EV charging hub is evident, with the expansion of the Supercharger network enhancing infrastructure for faster and more convenient EV travel across the country.
The Spring 2025 Supercharger voting cycle is now open for Canadians, with ten Canadian locations on the ballot. However, no Canadian locations received enough votes in the Q1 2025 Supercharger voting round.
Tesla's Supercharging deployment decisions are directly impacted by votes, especially in regions with high demand and limited infrastructure. The voting round invites Tesla owners to decide where the company will build its next Supercharging stations.
In previous Supercharger voting cycles, Canada has seen significant success, with Quebec often dominating the leaderboard. In the Fall 2023 round, Canada took all of the winning spots, with sites selected in Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia.
The voting system allows participants to suggest new sites, and Tesla has started construction on Canada's first Supercharger voting winner in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, late last year. Voting is now available at tesla.com/en_ca/supercharger-voting.
This round of voting favors Eastern Canada, with Duncan, BC, and Burnaby, BC being the only nominees from the western part of Canada. Seven selected sites are in the United States, and six are across Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Participants can cast multiple votes each quarter in Tesla's Supercharging voting system. The Q1 2025 Supercharger voting winners include a global mix of sites, positioning Canada as a growing EV charging hub. Further updates from Tesla's voting process and announcements can be expected throughout 2025 as the Supercharger network evolves.
