Tesla Introduces Armor Package for Cybertruck: Cost, Accessibility, and Further Details
Tesla Announces Wider Availability of Terrestrial Armor Package for Cybertruck in September 2025
Tesla has announced that the Terrestrial Armor Package, an off-road protection upgrade for the Cybertruck, will become available for non-Foundation Series vehicles around September 2025. Currently, the package is only offered for Foundation Series vehicles.
The Terrestrial Armor Package, priced at $3,500, includes an underbody battery shield made of aluminum and enhanced rock sliders made of coated steel. These additions are designed to protect the Cybertruck from rocks and debris on tough terrain. The price includes shipment to the customer's preferred Tesla Service Center and professional installation.
The package consists of one underbody shield, one left side structural rocker, and one right side structural rocker. The rock sliders are made from coated steel, while the battery shield is constructed from aluminum with corrugation. The battery shield offers impact attenuation, and the rock sliders replace the rocker panels to withstand breakover contact.
Tesla engineers have been testing the Terrestrial Armor Package in Johnson Valley, and the overload detection feature is designed to help Cybertruck owners avoid exceeding payload limits. The package also includes an overload detection feature.
The Foundation Series Cybertrucks include perks like free Supercharging in select regions. However, the Terrestrial Armor Package is currently only available for Foundation Series Cybertrucks, Tesla's limited launch edition.
Tesla has canceled its planned Cybertruck Range Extender accessory earlier this year and issued refunds to pre-orders. A two-month owner review of the Terrestrial Armor Package is available from Twitter user @ogre_codes.
The Cybertruck received a new overload detection feature via software update 2025.26. The Terrestrial Armor Package is intended to further strengthen the Cybertruck's off-road capabilities.
