Tesla Expands Infrastructure in India Ahead of Model Y Deliveries

Tesla is actively expanding its supercharging network in India, with a focus on New Delhi (Delhi NCR) and Mumbai as priority markets. The electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer has opened its second experience centre in Aerocity, New Delhi, which includes a high-speed Supercharger station.

The Aerocity facility features four V4 Superchargers providing up to 250kW fast charging and four AC Destination Chargers offering 11kW. This is part of Tesla’s push to establish a robust charging infrastructure, with more supercharging stations planned soon in Gurugram, Saket (South Delhi), and Noida to cover the greater Delhi NCR area.

In Mumbai, Tesla has already started with a Supercharger station at the Bandra Kurla Complex and plans to expand to additional locations including Lower Parel, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. The first experience centre in India was opened in Mumbai last month alongside the launch of the Model Y, priced from ₹59.89 lakh.

Tesla’s expansion plans go beyond charging stations. The company is preparing to introduce mobile services, remote diagnostics, a dedicated service centre, and a Tesla Approved Collision Centre in India, indicating a comprehensive ecosystem to support its vehicles.

The redesigned Model Y in India comes in two trims. The base model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and offers a range of up to 500 km (WLTP), priced from Rs. 59.89 lakhs. The long range rear-wheel drive Model Y provides a range of over 622 km (WLTP) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Its base price is Rs. 67.89 lakhs. The long range rear-wheel drive Model Y also offers over 2,130 litres of cargo space and seating for up to five passengers.

Customers purchasing a new vehicle this quarter will receive a complimentary wall connector. The charging station at Aerocity offers four V4 supercharging stalls (DC) and three destination charging stalls (AC). Orders for the redesigned Model Y are open on Tesla’s website.

The centre also houses the city's first Tesla Charging Station, located at Aerocity's Worldmark 3 on the lower ground floor. The charging station is set to provide a reliable EV ownership experience in these key metropolitan areas.

| Location (City) | Existing Superchargers | Planned Supercharger Locations | Other Plans | |---------------------|-----------------------------------|-------------------------------------------|--------------------------------------| | New Delhi (Aerocity) | 4x V4 Superchargers, 4x AC Chargers | Gurugram, Saket, Noida | Mobile service, remote diagnostics, service & collision centres | | Mumbai | Bandra Kurla Complex | Lower Parel, Navi Mumbai, Thane | Experience centre, service support |

Tesla’s stated approach stresses short-term concrete commitments rather than long-term promises, aiming to expand infrastructure steadily to ensure a reliable EV ownership experience in these key metropolitan areas. At peak efficiency, a Model Y can add up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes.
