Tesla Brings Back Indicator Stalk, Boosts Range in Model 3 & Y Updates
Tesla has rolled out significant updates for its Model 3 and Model Y, including the return of a popular feature and improvements in range and technology. The changes, first seen in China earlier this year, are now being progressively introduced globally.
Among the updates, the return of the indicator stalk has been welcomed by drivers. This feature was removed in the 2023 Highland update, which sparked some controversy among Tesla's driving community. The new stalk is described as 'precision-engineered' and promises 'effortless control' while driving.
A new front camera is now available for the Model 3, offering an expanded view and enhancing the vehicle's safety systems. This camera comes with its own washer jet and integrated heating to maintain clear visibility in all weather conditions.
Range improvements are a key aspect of the updates. The Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3 now offers 323 miles of official WLTP range, up from 318 miles previously. All-Wheel Drive versions also see improvements, with the LR AWD Model 3 now offering 445 miles WLTP. The Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3 has the most significant range increase, rising to 466 miles WLTP. The Long Range All-Wheel Drive Model Y also benefits, with its range increasing to 390 miles WLTP. These enhancements are thanks to upgraded battery packs featuring higher-density cells.
Other updates include a front bumper camera, a 16” QHD display, wireless phone chargers, an upgraded sound system, and redesigned seats. These changes were first introduced in China earlier this year and are now being rolled out globally as local production incorporates the updates.
The latest updates to the Model 3 and Model Y demonstrate Tesla's commitment to continuous improvement. The return of the indicator stalk, enhanced safety features, and improved range are expected to be well-received by customers. These updates are part of Tesla's ongoing efforts to maintain its position as a leader in electric vehicle technology.
