PreAct Technologies Unveils New Line of Flash LiDAR Sensors

PreAct Technologies, an Oregon-based company, has announced a new line of flash LiDAR sensors: Sahara, Borrego, and Moab. These sensors are designed to cater to various industries and applications.

Let's take a closer look at each sensor.

The Sahara sensor, suitable for outdoor use, boasts a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels (77k) and an IP69K rating, making it suitable for harsh ambient light settings. Its Field of View (FOV) is 70 x 52.5 degrees. The Sahara sensor can provide 1.4 million points of depth information per second and offers software-selectable illumination and frame rate, resulting in power consumption that varies from 6 to 42 watts.

The Sahara sensor is ideal for use cases outdoors with up to 20 meters sensing capabilities, such as robotics, automotive, trucking, and university research.

The Borrego sensor, on the other hand, is designed for long, narrow space coverage in security, logistics, and agriculture applications. It has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels (77k) and a FOV of 108 x 77 degrees. The sensor's range is 16.5 meters @ 20% reflectivity, and it has a low power standby of 4 watts (typ). The Borrego sensor's design is "out of the way" and undetectable, with a protective mounting secured behind a support beam. Its Bluetooth connectivity gives options in mounting placement and reduces installation costs, making it suitable for accurate volume determination of a cargo container.

The Borrego sensor is also well-suited for applications that require accurate volume determination, such as in security, logistics, and agriculture.

Lastly, the details about the Moab sensor were not provided in the given information. However, it is known that Moab is best suited for education, healthcare, smart cities, ITS, agriculture, retail, security applications. Moab supports wireless communication (4G LTE, WIFI) and multiple I/O (Ethernet, USB-C). Its power consumption is 30 watts maximum. Moab's strong AI-on-the-edge capability extends its applications to people counting in retail settings, inventory management, public transportation monitoring for safety, patient monitoring, and much more.

The current distributors of the LiDAR sensors Mojave and Moab developed by PreAct Technologies are Continental AG and Hitachi Astemo.

These new LiDAR sensors from PreAct Technologies are set to revolutionise various industries with their advanced features and versatile applications.
