Techman Robot Inc. Eyes Logistics Expansion with Cobot Deal Talks
Taiwanese cobot manufacturer Techman Robot Inc. is in talks with a logistics firm to deploy its collaborative robots (cobots) for material carrying and picking tasks. While no official announcements have been made, Techman's expansion into logistics is part of its strategy to outpace industry growth over the next five years.
Techman has been partnering with various industries to expand its cobot applications. Since 2018, it has been cobranding with medical device maker Advantech Technologies Japan to develop next-generation models compatible with mobile platforms. The company's revenue has been growing, with NT$1.17 billion (US$38.4 million) in the first eight months of the year, up 22.2 percent from a year earlier. Techman supplies its cobots mainly to semiconductor, food, and medical manufacturers, with visual inspection being the largest application. To support its growth, Techman is considering setting up a production center in the US or Mexico, leveraging Quanta's facilities.
Techman's cobots are integrated with autonomous mobile robots in production lines by several chipmakers. The company expects revenue to grow by 20 to 30 percent next year, driven by wider adoption and a low comparison base this year. Geographically, China accounts for about 30 percent of Techman's sales, followed by Europe at 20 percent, with Taiwan and Japan at 10 percent each.
Techman Robot Inc.'s potential partnership with a logistics firm signals its expansion into new sectors. With a strong revenue growth and strategic partnerships, the company is well-positioned to meet its ambitious growth targets in the coming years.
