Tamil Nadu-made solar panels by Tata Power set to fuel Odisha's aspiration for green energy.

In a significant stride towards a sustainable future, Tata Power is leading the charge in Odisha's clean energy transition. The Mumbai-based energy conglomerate is investing heavily in skill development, renewable energy projects, and affordable solar solutions, positioning itself as a key enabler in the state's green energy journey.

One of Tata Power's key initiatives is the 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign, launched from Bhubaneswar. This initiative offers domestic consumers affordable solar solutions, with financing options starting from as low as Rs 2,499 for a 1kW system. The campaign is supported by government subsidies, making solar power more economically viable for residents.

Tata Power's commitment to Odisha extends beyond just providing solar solutions. The company has partnered with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) to drive grassroots adoption of renewable energy in the state. This partnership is aimed at fostering a future-ready green workforce in Odisha, with Tata Power setting up four training centers through the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI). Over the next year, these centers aim to train 12,000 youths in solar installation, operations, and maintenance.

Tata Power's rooftop solar adoption efforts in Odisha are backed by the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and strong state government support. The company has pledged to install over 3,00,000 rooftop solar systems in Odisha within the next three years.

In addition to its efforts in Odisha, Tata Power Renewables has demonstrated significant solar project commissioning capabilities across India, including a recent 752 MW solar project commissioning in Q1 FY26. This indicates a broader commitment to expanding solar energy capacity nationwide.

Tata Power's solar manufacturing arm, TP Solar Ltd., operates India's largest single-location solar module manufacturing plant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Equipped with advanced technologies like TOPCon and Mono PERC, the plant produces high-efficiency solar cells and modules.

Tata Power's initiatives in Odisha are a testament to the company's commitment to sustainable growth and energy independence. The company's Solar Micro Grid project in Baliapal village, Kalinganagar, addresses the issue of frequent power cuts, benefiting 255 residents. The community contributed 10% of the project cost, while the remaining 90% was covered by Tata Power's Industrial Energy Limited (IEL), a joint venture between Tata Power and Tata Steel.

Odisha, with its ambitious clean energy goals, aims to position itself as a net exporter of green energy by 2036 and 2047. Tata Power's contributions are playing a crucial role in fast-tracking this transition, reinforcing the state's vision for sustainable growth and energy independence.
