T-Mobile's T-Satellite Expands to 42 Devices, Adds Popular Apps
T-Mobile has expanded its T-Satellite service, now supporting 42 compatible devices and popular apps like WhatsApp and Google Maps in remote areas. The service, which enables voice calls, video chats, and navigation, has seen significant growth since its launch.
T-Mobile has added 17 new phone models to its T-Satellite service, bringing the total to 42 compatible devices. The service now supports Samsung's Galaxy S24 and S25 lineups, Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6, Motorola's latest 5G devices, and the iPhone SE (third generation).
Initially limited to text messaging, T-Satellite has expanded its functionality significantly. It now supports popular apps such as WhatsApp, Google Maps, AllTrails, and AccuWeather in remote areas. Users can make voice calls, engage in video chats, navigate using Google Maps, and share updates on social media via satellite.
Meanwhile, Rogers in Canada has partnered with SpaceX to bring satellite-to-phone coverage to rural and remote areas. Aiming to match the connectivity offered by T-Satellite in the U.S., Rogers' move signals growing competition in the satellite communication market.
T-Mobile's T-Satellite service continues to grow, now supporting 42 devices and popular apps. While there's no official announcement of a partnership with SpaceX's Starlink, Rogers' partnership with SpaceX in Canada indicates increasing competition in the satellite communication sector.
