Stormgate, while not yet fully complete, is exiting early access, with the developers confident that the campaign and 1v1 multiplayer modes are now ready for a wider player base.
Stormgate, the highly anticipated real-time strategy (RTS) game from Frost Giant Studios, is set to officially leave Steam early access on August 5, 2025. The launch version, now referred to as the Necrolyte release, will include a complete 12-mission Ashes of Earth campaign and robust 1v1 mode, access to the terrain editor alpha, and co-op mode that are still in active development.
The launch of Stormgate's campaign, titled Ashes of Earth, marks the game's departure from early access. However, it's important to note that while the Human Vanguard campaign and 1v1 PvP mode are considered finished components for this full launch, the cooperative mode and terrain editor remain unfinished and actively being developed.
The cooperative mode has not received recent updates and still uses earlier faction versions. It will be accessible under a new in-development menu section called “Sigma Labs” after launch. Similarly, the terrain editor is available only as an alpha or partial version, also housed in the “Sigma Labs” section, indicating ongoing work and refinement.
Frost Giant Studios emphasizes that co-op and custom game features like terrain editing are integral to their vision and will continue evolving post-release, guided by community feedback. The coming autumn update will be called Ornithopter.
