Stellantis Hikes Argentine Car Prices 12% Amid Sales Boom
Stellantis has announced significant price increases for new cars in Argentina, with an average hike of 12%. This comes as the country experiences a boom in new vehicle sales, with July 2025 seeing the highest news since 2018.
The price surge follows a trend of increasing costs in the automotive industry. While the car manufacturer with the highest average price increases in July 2025 is not specified, Mercedes-Benz has notably increased its price surcharge for electric cars, from 30% at the start of 2025 to 40% in June. This suggests substantial news around that period.
Argentina, the second largest market in South America for new vehicle sales, saw a remarkable 46% increase in sales in July 2025 compared to the same month in 2024. A total of 59,030 new vehicles were sold, surpassing the previous record set in 2018. Toyota maintained its lead as the top-selling brand, with 10,033 units sold, followed by Volkswagen and Fiat with 8,872 and 8,286 units respectively. Chevrolet sold 5,253 units.
The accumulated sales for 2025 have already exceeded the total sold between January and July of 2024 by 72%. Ford Argentina has also announced average price increases of 3% for August 2025, indicating that the trend of rising prices is set to continue.
The significant increase in new vehicle sales in Argentina, coupled with substantial price hikes, reflects the growing demand and changing landscape of the automotive market in the country. Despite the price increases, the market continues to thrive, with Toyota leading the sales for the fourth consecutive month.
