Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions Unveiled - Co-op Missions, Timed Oxygen, Alien Planet Deformation
Starlink: Astroneer Expeditions, the newest game from System Era Softworks and published by Devolver Digital, has been unveiled for the first time. This co-op focused game allows up to four players to embark on missions together, exploring an alien planet with objectives, alien encounters, and loot collection.
The game introduces a unique gameplay mechanic where each mission is timed, with a limited oxygen supply. This adds an element of urgency and tension to gameplay. Players will need to work together to complete objectives and return to their space station before running out of air.
The space station serves as a hub between missions, but its role in base-building is yet to be fully revealed. The Steam page hints at an 'ever-evolving' space station, potentially allowing upgrades with mission loot. However, there's no direct link to the ability to build bases on alien planets managed from the space station.
Starlink: Astroneer Expeditions is set for release in 2026. Alongside co-op gameplay and timed missions, players can deform the alien planet, tunnel through the ground, build land bridges, and use water nozzles to clean equipment. Fans of offbeat simulation games and mods, like long-time PC gaming writer Christopher Livingston, are eagerly awaiting more details about this promising title.
