This remote-first role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects, with a focus on building and maintaining WordPress websites, themes, and plugins, particularly for e-commerce sites using WooCommerce.
Key Requirements
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in WordPress theme and plugin development.
- Proficiency in custom theme development and working with core and custom modules.
- Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and data formats such as JSON and XML.
- Familiarity with tools like ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), Gulp, npm, Composer, and version control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility compliance.
- Good command of written English.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining, updating, troubleshooting, and developing WordPress websites.
- Building new WordPress pages and sites from provided designs.
- Developing custom WordPress themes and plugins tailored to customer needs.
- Creating reusable components and functionalities using PHP and front-end technologies.
- Collaborating with design and backend teams to ensure quality and performance.
- Implementing, reviewing code, and participating in peer code reviews.
- Translating business and UX requirements into well-structured WordPress architecture.
- Ensuring sites have high performance, security, and are suitable for high traffic.
