In the heart of Morocco, the continent's largest information and communication technology (ICT) exhibition, GITEX Africa 2025, took place from April 14 to 16. This annual event, which is the African edition of GITEX Global, showcased the latest technologies and innovations in the sector.

This year, over 1,400 companies, 650 government agencies, and more than 350 investors gathered to explore the future of technology in Africa. Among the participants were startups from various sectors, including ICT, environment, tourism, agriculture, education, and construction, hailing from South Korea.

The Korea-Africa Foundation, an organisation that promotes cooperation between South Korea and African countries, operated a Korean Pavilion at GITEX Africa 2025. The pavilion aimed to facilitate connections between Korean startups and African buyers and investors. Participating companies secured tangible outcomes, including proof-of-concept (PoC) agreements, memorandums of understanding (MOUs), and letters of intent (LOIs) for future investments.

One of the standout participants was the startup 'CAST', though further information about this company could not be verified in the available sources. It is known that 'CAST' participated in the Supernova Challenge, a global pitch competition for startups held at GITEX Africa. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, awarded a special prize to 'CAST' during the competition. However, it's unclear what specific award was given or the background of the startup.

GITEX Africa 2025 was not the first time the event had been hosted in Morocco. Since 2022, the African edition of GITEX has been held in this North African country. The event attracted around 45,000 participants from across the globe, marking a significant increase from previous years.

Kim Young-chae, President of the Korea-Africa Foundation, commented on the growth of GITEX Africa, stating that the event has been expanding steadily over the past three years. As technology continues to play an increasingly important role in Africa's development, events like GITEX Africa will undoubtedly remain crucial platforms for fostering cooperation and innovation between African and international companies.
