The AI for Africa Initiative, driving the summit, focuses on key areas. These include industrialisation, empowering women, nurturing local talent, and investing in infrastructure. All align with the African Union's Agenda 2063.
The Technology Policy Assistance Facility was launched in partnership with UNESCO. It assists countries in shaping AI policies that prioritise human rights and the public interest.
In Cape Town, Minister Malatsi inaugurated the G20 Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, Data Governance, and Sustainable Development. The task force's priorities include data governance, AI in public services, international collaboration, safeguarding information integrity, and multicultural representation in AI systems.
Minister Malatsi emphasised the need to bridge the global digital divide for inclusive AI development. He called for robust governance frameworks and international cooperation to ensure ethical AI growth. The goal is to harness AI as a force for good, driving equitable growth, deepening innovation, and strengthening the bond between technology and humanity.
