Sophos Explores GPT-3's Potential in Cyber Defense
Sophos has published a report, 'GPT for You and Me', exploring the use of GPT-3 in simplifying cyber defense tasks. The report details projects by Sophos X-Ops and researchers at MIT, with results available on GitHub for testing.
GPT-3's large language models have shown promise in cybersecurity. The model can more accurately filter spam compared to other machine learning models. It can also simplify searching for malicious activity in security software datasets and aid in reverse-engineering 'living off the land' binary (LOLBin) attacks.
Sophos tested GPT-3 using 'few-shot learning', demonstrating its effectiveness with just a few data samples. The company is now working on incorporating GPT-3 prototypes into its products. Gallagher, a Sophos executive, believes GPT-3 could become a standard co-pilot for security experts in the future.
Sophos' report, 'GPT for You and Me', highlights the potential of GPT-3 in cybersecurity. The model's accuracy in spam filtering and its ability to simplify complex tasks make it a promising tool. Sophos is exploring ways to integrate GPT-3 into its products, with the potential for it to become a standard aid for security experts.
