Seiko Introduces Limited Edition "Pepsi" Watches

Seiko, the renowned Japanese watchmaker, has made a splash in the horological market with the release of its official "Pepsi" watches. These timepieces, part of the Seiko 5 Sports line, pay homage to the iconic red-and-blue colour scheme associated with Pepsi's branding.

The SRPL99 and SSK047 models, limited to 7,000 pieces each, are Seiko's first collaboration with Pepsi, incorporating the brand's unmistakable logo and colour scheme on the bezel and packaging.

Key Details of the Two Models

The SRPL99 and SSK047 models boast distinct features that cater to different tastes. The SRPL99 draws on retro elements, with a compact size, vintage Pepsi logo, and a silvery-white dial with blue outlined luminous markers. In contrast, the SSK047 offers a modern GMT complication, a bold black-coated case, and a black dial with blue indexes and a bright red GMT hand.

Both watches are equipped with robust automatic movements (Caliber 4R36 and 4R34 GMT), 100m water resistance, and Lumibrite for legibility. The SRPL99 features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a metallic blue and red insert, while the SSK047 sports a bidirectional 24-hour bezel with a half red, half blue insert. The SRPL99 comes with a stainless steel 3-link brushed bracelet, while the SSK047 is paired with a Pepsi-branded black silicone strap.

Significance in the Horological Market

These limited-edition "Pepsi" watches represent a blend of heritage and modernity, appealing to both watch enthusiasts and brand fans. Their collectible value is further enhanced by the Pepsi-can inspired packaging and the serial numbers engraved on the caseback.

The watches offer Swiss-level specifications combined with Seiko’s reliability and affordable pricing, making them desirable in the sport and GMT watch segments. The collaboration reinforces Seiko’s reputation for producing iconic, well-built watches with cultural resonance, and reflects a successful crossover between horology and lifestyle branding.

A New Era in Horology

While the red-and-blue color scheme of the Rolex "Pepsi" has been present since the GMT-Master line debuted in the mid-1950s, it is now Seiko that can claim to have the true-blue "Pepsi" watch. The new Seiko "Pepsi" watches, with their sense of humor and pop culture appeal, are a refreshing addition to the horological landscape.
