Samsung's initial software update deployed for its freshly-released foldable devices

Samsung's latest foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE, have received their first update since their launch. The update, based on One UI 8, is approximately 550 MB in size and focuses on improved device security.

The update versions are F966BXXS2AYGG (Fold 7), F766BXXS2AYGD (Flip 7), and F761BXXS2AYG5 (Flip 7 FE), respectively. After applying this update, users will no longer be able to downgrade to an older software version, to maintain device security integrity.

This update was rolled out just days after the devices’ launch, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to security from the start. It incorporates the July 2025 security patches and is part of a broader plan including seven years of major Android and One UI upgrades with monthly security patches for at least four years.

The update is focused on improving security, likely including minor bug fixes and slight performance enhancements. Samsung has not detailed specific changes but emphasizes that the update enhances security protection for these foldable devices under the new One UI 8 ecosystem.

In just one week since launch, the sales of both the Fold 7 and Flip 7 have surpassed last year's models by over 25%. The Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7, and the more budget-friendly Z Flip 7 FE are now available for purchase on Samsung's site, in stores, and through major carriers nationwide.

For those considering a new phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 boasts serious upgrades, making it a standout pick. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 and its predecessor have broken preorders records for their respective series in the U.S. However, preorder deals for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are still live, but it is recommended not to wait too long.

It's worth noting that the update may vary based on the country, model, or network of the user. Users can initiate the update by going to "Settings" > "Software update" > "Download and install" or "Check for new update."
