Samsung set to unveil Project Moohan headset at July's Galaxy Unpacked event
Heading straight to the point, the tech world's buzzing about Samsung's upcoming summer bash, the Unpacked event in July, where we're hoping to get a peek at the future foldables - Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, alongside the new Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatches[1].
A rumor's been swirling around town that we might also witness Samsung's upcoming Android XR headset, Project Moohan. A tipster named PandaFlashPro spilled the beans on a platform, stating that Samsung would unveil Project Moohan during "July Unpacked 2025." Yet, another regular leaker, Max Jambor, dismissed that report[2].
But PandaFlash insists, claiming that their source confirmed the headset will be showcased at Samsung's Unpacked event. They added that Samsung plans to launch the headset first in South Korea, followed by a gradual global rollout[1][2]. However, an exact date for the dedicated Moohan event is yet to be declared[3].
Samsung hasn't shared many specifics about the headset, despite several sneak peeks shown at the January Unpacked reveal, MWC 2025, and Google I/O in May. We did get a closer look at the headset during AWE 2025 this week, where it was paired with Qualcomm's new AR+1 Gen 1 chip, which could power the best smart glasses, as well as headsets[1].
Moreover, during an earnings call earlier this year, Samsung announced that XR devices, including Project Moohan, would be released in the second half of 2025[4]. The device is expected to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 processor, designed specifically for XR devices, and it might feature up to 16 GB of RAM[5]. Additionally, it could sport a pair of Sony 1.3-inch 4K OLED on Silicon panels, offering a pixel density of 3,800 ppi, surpassing the Sony displays in the Apple Vision Pro[5].
As we wait for Samsung to spill the beans in July, the price and more detailed specs for the headset remain a mystery[1][4][5]. Stay tuned for more updates!
