*Jumpstarting AI Adoption Across Russia: A Fresh Perspective*

The Russian government has consequently founded an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Development Center, with the objective of streamlining and orchestrating AI technology application nationwide. The center was officially launched in June 2025, boasting Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko as its leader and functioning under the government’s analytical center as a nationwide project office, as per the cabinet's confirmation.

The center's mission: To align the efforts of government bodies, regional authorities, and businesses; deliver expert advice and methodological guidance for AI implementation; and identify and replicate safe and successful AI solutions. In addition, the center will build necessary regulatory and legal frameworks to ensure AI technology safety and foster international cooperation. The ultimate goal being to make AI advancements accessible to every Russian citizen, thereby bolstering our country's competitiveness in worldwide markets by embracing cutting-edge technology.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously declared in December 2024 that Russia should lead the globe in the creation and application of AI across all sectors, reaching full integration into government, healthcare, industry, and transport by 2030.

The Russian AI market saw significant growth in 2022, with over 1,000 domestic companies and more than 90 research centers active in the field. Russia intends to establish AI as a key component of its economic and social development, with best practices widely adopted and regulatory frameworks in place to safeguard and encourage innovation, by 2030.
