Tesla Unveils 2025 Model S and X Refresh: Premium Features and Price Increase

Tesla has announced a refresh for its iconic Model S and Model X, focusing on refinement, comfort, and design to create a more polished and high-end feel. The update comes with a price increase of $10,000 but bundles several premium features as standard, including Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability, free lifetime Supercharging, Premium Connectivity, and a new four-year Premium Service.

The FSD package, previously costing $8,000, is now included as standard, offering advanced driver assistance (currently level 2 autonomy with planned upgrades). The Premium Service lasts four years and covers tire and windshield protection, scheduled services like wheel alignment, tire rotations, and filter replacements. Free Supercharging for life is reinstated for Model S and X buyers.

The refresh also includes a new front bumper camera with its own washer, revised bushings, and a new suspension design for improved ride quality. The Model S now comes with 19′′ Magnetite wheels as standard, while the Model X boasts 20′′ Perihelix wheels.

In terms of software and tech, the broader Tesla 2025.26 update introduces the Grok AI assistant in vehicles with AMD processors, enhancing the in-car experience. Other quality-of-life improvements include RGB ambient lighting synced to music and audio presets.

The 2025 Model S and X refresh also features dynamic ambient lighting animations upon entering the vehicle, footwell lighting, and door pocket LEDs that can be customized to any color. A new on-screen welcome animation greets drivers when the doors are opened.

However, customer reaction has been mixed. While the inclusion of FSD and free Supercharging adds value, the steep price increase and loss of free FSD transfers make the new “Luxe Package” less attractive for some, especially when older non-updated inventory remains significantly cheaper. The pricing strategy seems to push premium buyers toward the updated 2026 versions, while budget-conscious buyers may still opt for the 2025 models.

It's important to note that no major hardware upgrades like the rumored Hardware 5 are confirmed in this refresh, though they may come later. The focus appears mainly on feature bundling and pricing adjustments rather than a complete redesign.

The new premium paint options, Frost Blue Metallic for $2,500 and Diamond Black for $1,500, have not been confirmed as available in the 2025 Model S and X refresh.
