Retailers Meet Policymakers in D.C. to Push for Pro-Growth Policies

Over 70 retailers, including 45 small businesses, gathered in Washington, D.C. for the inaugural Retail Innovation & Impact Conference. The event, held on April 2-3, aimed to discuss retail's economic impact and pro-growth policies. It coincided with our website's annual State of Retail & the Consumer virtual event, which predicted retail sales growth of 2.7% to 3.7% in 2025.

The conference saw attendees participate in 85 meetings with congressional offices, including Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. They discussed tariffs and the Credit Card Competition Act, which Sen. Durbin pledged to continue pushing for. Our website hosted a press briefing with five small retailers to delve into the impacts of tariffs on the industry and consumers.

Google hosted a reception featuring a panel discussion on the future of retail and artificial intelligence. The Trump administration's announcement of reciprocal tariffs on nearly all imports on April 2 shifted the focus to addressing tariff challenges, particularly for small businesses. Conference attendees met with Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler to discuss extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and tariff concerns.

The Retail Innovation & Impact Conference brought together retailers and policymakers to address pressing issues in the retail industry. With the predicted retail sales growth and the commitment to push for pro-growth policies, the conference set the stage for a proactive approach to the sector's future.
