Raphael Fellmer to Attempt Guinness World Record for Food Rescue in Berlin

On August 19, 2025, Raphael Fellmer, co-founder of SIRPLUS, will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for food rescue in Berlin. The event aims to distribute 15,000 expired vegan recipes and talers, along with around 100,000 other rescued foods, for free. Fellmer's vision is to create a world without hunger by stopping food waste along the entire value chain.

Fellmer's journey began in 2009 when he started 'dumpster diving', rescuing food from waste bins. He later co-founded foodsharing, now the largest volunteer food rescue movement in Europe. His commitment to rescuing surplus food led him to co-found SIRPLUS, which has already rescued over 5 million kilograms of food and donated over 1 million meals to those in need.

Fellmer sees his work as both ethical and ecologically necessary. He aims to increase appreciation for resources and food in society, economy, and politics. His ultimate goal is a world without hunger, which he believes can be achieved by stopping food waste throughout the value chain.

On August 19, 2025, Fellmer's Guinness World Record attempt will not only aim to break a record but also raise awareness about food waste and hunger. By redistributing 15,000 vegan recipes and talers, along with other rescued foods, Fellmer hopes to inspire more action towards creating a world without hunger.
