Quantum-Based Encryption Alliance Releases a Document Showcasing Various Post-Quantum Cryptography Solutions

The Post-Quantum Cryptography Coalition (PQCC), a global community of technologists, researchers, and cybersecurity experts, has published a Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Inventory Workbook to help organizations manage their transition to quantum-resistant cryptographic systems more effectively.

Founded by leading organizations such as IBM Quantum, Microsoft, MITRE, PQShield, and SandboxAQ, the PQCC aims to provide critical outreach and education to help secure the digital landscape against the potential threats posed by quantum computing.

Aiding Organizations in Their Transition

The PQC Inventory Workbook is designed to help organizations create a centralized inventory for tracking cryptographic migration efforts. Organizations can use the workbook as is or customize it to meet their specific needs, including adding fields to track additional data over time.

The workbook allows organizations to identify and define systems or assets to track, categorize assets by priority, populate the inventory tab with available information, and update the inventory as new data or systems are identified. This streamlined set of fields helps organizations assess their PQC needs, plan system life cycles, and prioritize assets for migration.

Establishing Interoperable Standards and Community Engagement

The PQCC focuses on establishing and implementing interoperable standards and technology to ensure seamless integration of post-quantum cryptography across diverse systems. Organizations or individuals can participate in the coalition by visiting PQCC.org or contacting [email protected]. This community engagement fosters collaboration among technologists, researchers, and industry leaders, promoting a unified approach to addressing quantum computing challenges.

Looking Ahead: Quantum Risk Assessment Materials

The PQCC plans to publish quantum risk assessment materials later this year, further assisting organizations in anticipating and mitigating potential quantum threats. By leveraging these resources and collaborative opportunities, organizations can better prepare themselves for the transition to quantum-resistant cryptography, ensuring their data remains secure in the face of emerging quantum technologies.

MITRE, a not-for-profit research and development organization and a member of the PQCC, is dedicated to driving solutions to our nation's most pressing challenges. For media inquiries, contact Lisa Fasold at [email protected].
