Mobile Communication Week in Saxony: Identifying Shortfalls in Mobile Network Services - Progress Update Demanded in Telecom Sector: Commission Tasked with Assessment of Advancements
Residents of Saxony Invited to Identify Mobile Network Dead Zones During Week-Long Event
Saxony's residents are encouraged to participate in the nationwide Mobile Network Week, starting Monday and lasting until Sunday, to help identify dead zones in the mobile network throughout the region and Germany. Economic Minister Dirk Panter (SPD) called on citizens to partake in this initiative.
According to officials, the more people contribute to the survey, the more accurate the picture of the mobile network coverage in Saxony and across Germany will be, especially in rural regions and areas with challenging topography.
Minister Panter remarked that Saxony has already achieved a high level of mobile network coverage, with a coverage rate of 98.80% for the fourth-generation (4G/LTE) mobile network and 96.06% for the fifth-generation (5G) network. The Mobile Network Week aims to focus on the everyday experiences people have with their mobile networks.
During the Mobile Network Week, users can utilize their smartphones and the Federal Network Agency's Broadband Measurement app to record the mobile network coverage in the area. The collected data will provide valuable insights to help improve mobile network quality, subsequently being anonymized and added to the "Gigabit-Grundbuch" of the Federal Government's dead zone map.
Residents can contribute to these efforts by using mobile network coverage apps, participating in surveys and feedback programs, reporting issues directly to their mobile service providers, or supporting local initiatives organized by authorities or community groups aiming to map or improve network coverage.
By participating in the Mobile Network Week and reporting dead zones, residents can help improve mobile network coverage across Saxony and Germany.
