Presentation: Fundamentals of VITA 100
In an exciting development for the electronics industry, a free webinar is scheduled for registered users of Electronic Design. The webinar, set to take place on August 12, 2025, will delve into the latest advancements in VITA 100 standards and emerging VITA standards, including new connectors and board form factors.
The webinar will be graced by the presence of industry experts such as Dan Toohey, who serves on the SOSA Steering Committee and VITA Standards Organization (VSO) board of directors, and Michael Walsmley, Global Product Manager in the Aerospace, Defense and Marine business unit at TE Connectivity.
Dan Toohey, a Fellow Chief Technologist within the Advanced Concepts Group at Mercury Systems, has been actively involved in open standards development for over 25 years. He has chaired and authored multiple VPX standards and co-leads the VITA 100.20 System Management working group. Dan holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).
Michael Walsmley brings over 40 years of experience with interconnects, primarily in engineering and product management roles, to the table. He is also an active member of the VITA Standards Organization.
Mark Littlefield, senior manager of embedded computing products and services for Elma Electronic, leads the SOSA small-form-factor (SFF) sub-committee. Mark holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in control systems engineering from the University of West Florida.
The VITA 100 standard, the latest effort from VITA, is designed to incorporate 400G Ethernet standards and push towards 1.6T. It does not only address faster Ethernet standards but also new system management support, cooling techniques, and connectors.
Other standards like Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) build on VITA standards, further enhancing their relevance to high bandwidth, reliable connectivity, and system management for future designs incorporating GPGPU, AI, and ML accelerators.
The webinar will last for 1 hour and will cover key features and innovations in VITA standards, such as rugged design and reliability, high bandwidth and speed, modular and interoperable designs, system management and scalability, support for advanced technologies, high-speed interconnects, ruggedized connectors, advanced system architectures, energy efficiency and thermal management, adaptability and flexibility, and more.
The link to the webinar will be provided when it goes live. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the future of electronic design from industry leaders!
