Portsmouth Water Unveils £377M AMP8 Plan for Secure Supplies and Low Bills
Portsmouth Water has revealed an ambitious plan for the AMP8 program, aiming to secure water supplies, safeguard the environment, and keep bills low. The company has teamed up with key partners, including Cappagh, Arqiva, Bridges and IWS, and Tetra Tech, to deliver this strategic initiative.
The AMP8 program, set to run from 2020 to 2025, will see Portsmouth Water invest £377 million, with £200 million allocated for capital expenditure. The program takes a coordinated, ecosystem approach, involving strategic partners who will drive various aspects of the project.
Cappagh will lead the smart meter installation and commissioning program, renew mains, connect new developments, and maintain the network. Arqiva will provide smart metering technology, communications infrastructure, and data management, enabling customers to monitor and manage their water use. Bridges and IWS will drive the non-infrastructure program, upgrading systems and delivering projects such as nitrates removal and UV projects. Tetra Tech will provide design and professional services support, offering guidance and expertise to the program.
The collaboration was launched at an Eco-System Collaboration Event hosted by Portsmouth Water on 4 September. The event explored interdependencies between contracts and how partners can work together effectively and efficiently.
The AMP8 program is a significant investment in Portsmouth Water's future, with a focus on safeguarding water supplies, enhancing the environment, and delivering the lowest drinking water bills in England and Wales. Through strategic partnerships with Cappagh, Arqiva, Bridges and IWS, and Tetra Tech, the company is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious goals.
