The Philips Hue Bridge Pro, an upcoming upgrade to the popular Hue Bridge, promises to revolutionise smart lighting experiences for larger setups. Here's what we know so far about this exciting new device:

The Philips Hue Bridge Pro is set to be a significant improvement, boasting a powerful 1.7 GHz quad-core Cortex A-35 CPU/GPU and 8GB DDR4 SDRAM, making it approximately five times faster than its predecessor[1]. It also comes with 8GB eMMC flash storage.

One of the most notable features of the Hue Bridge Pro is its increased capacity. It can support up to 150 smart bulbs and lamps (up from 50) and 50 accessories such as motion sensors and light switches (up from 10)[1][2][3][4][5]. Additionally, it can store and manage up to 500 lighting scenes, providing a significant boost in automation options[1][3][5].

A new feature called MotionAware technology allows Hue smart lights themselves to act as motion sensors by detecting wireless signal changes via Zigbee. This eliminates the need for separate motion sensors, enhancing automation and smart home responsiveness[1][2][3][4][5].

The Hue Bridge Pro also includes built-in Wi-Fi, allowing for placement without a mandatory Ethernet connection, although an Ethernet port and USB-C power supply remain available[1][4].

In terms of smart home compatibility, the Hue Bridge Pro is expected to maintain broad compatibility with ecosystems like Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and the Matter standard[3].

The official announcement of the Philips Hue Bridge Pro is expected to take place at IFA 2025 in September 2025, with Signify (the parent company) likely to hold a press event in Berlin just ahead of the trade show[1][4].

In summary, the Hue Bridge Pro offers much higher capacity, faster processing, new MotionAware functionality, and added wireless flexibility, aimed at larger or more complex Hue smart lighting setups. The official unveiling is imminent at IFA 2025.
