PENN Entertainment Drops Barstool, Rebrands Sportsbooks as ESPN Bet
PENN Entertainment has decided to replace Barstool Sportsbook with ESPN Bet as its primary brand for online sports betting. This move comes after a challenging period for the company.
The rebranding is already underway, with sportsbooks in Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Ohio, and Michigan now operating under the ESPN Bet name. Currently, 20 locations have made the switch, with more planned in the future.
The ESPN Bet brand currently holds a 2.8% share of the US online sports betting market. PENN Entertainment has also rebranded ten retail sportsbooks with the ESPN Bet name and visual identity. The company is set to launch ESPN Bet sportsbooks in Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Colorado, expanding its reach further.
This rebranding is part of a $2 billion, 10-year agreement between PENN Entertainment and ESPN, signed in August 2023. While the next locations for rebranding are not yet specified, PENN Entertainment is committed to growing the ESPN Bet brand in the online sports betting market.
