In the quest to make electric vehicles more energy-efficient, comfortable, and safe, two European Union (EU) projects, EFFEREST and GIANTS, are leading the charge.
The EFFEREST project, coordinated by the Graz-based Automotive R&D leader, Virtual Vehicle, is focused on enhancing energy efficiency in electric vehicle designs and ensuring user satisfaction. It aims to provide users with personalized data and the ability to choose the vehicle's performance type. EFFEREST will demonstrate innovations in powertrains, battery systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The project's evaluations will be conducted in test facilities on a demonstrator vehicle.
On the other hand, the GIANTS project, named "Green Intelligent Affordable New Transport Solutions," is coordinated by the Animationsinstitut of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Its primary goal is to develop an innovative electric vehicle platform that offers modularity, scalability, and interoperability. GIANTS will feature innovative charging and energy optimization solutions, with the aim of reducing the ownership cost of electric vehicles. The project will include demonstration activities with prototypes, and these demonstrations are intended to encourage adoption by major original equipment manufacturers.
Both projects have robust consortiums, reflecting a commitment to advancing safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility. The website's focus in EU projects is primarily on defining specifications and communication and outreach towards automotive suppliers and the wider road transport ecosystem across Europe.
