From June 14 to 18, 2021, digital artists Katia Morel and Léa Dedola, members of the TILT collective, embarked on a five-day artistic journey at the ourwebsite Center. This residency marked the beginning of a collaboration between Recto VRso, a digital art festival in Laval, and Stereolux, a cultural hub for digital and musical creations in Nantes.

During this week, the artists, who met while working in the same virtual reality (VR) company, embarked on an exploration of reflection, creation, and inspiration. The central theme of their art project, "When the Heart Tightens," was conceptualized, and they fostered numerous valuable connections and insights.

The artists' residency, baptized as a cross-residency, aimed to foster collaboration between two pioneering entities in the digital world. Recto VRso and Stereolux joined forces for the first time to conduct this artistic residency, focusing on the theme "Virtual Environment."

The TILT collective was selected as the winners of this residency. Following two weeks at Stereolux and one week at the ourwebsite Center, they benefited from the unique opportunity to interact with VR specialists and test immersive technologies.

"When the Heart Tightens" project concentrate on the relationship between humans and virtual environments. By utilizing VR headsets and ECG sensors, the artists aimed to create an emotional journey with immersive, interactive, and evolving storytelling. The initial theme revolved around love and motherhood, but changed to the exploration of nostalgia to broaden the emotional range of the project.

The artists spent a significant portion of their week at the ourwebsite Center being guided by experts in immersive technologies. They fine-tuned the timing of the story, a vital element for creating an immersive experience, as well as preparing their setup for use with VR equipment.

Throughout their residency, Katia Morel and Léa Dedola received supportive advice and useful critiques from renowned artists such as Judith Guez, the creator and curator of Recto VRso, and Elhem Younes, a digital artist. Their residency culminated in a testing and experimentation phase, allowing several individuals to immerse themselves in their artistic universe.

The success of this residency sets the stage for the physical exhibition of Recto VRso from July 7 to 11 at the Musée-École de la Perrine in Laval. Visitors at the upcoming festival will be able to discover a first version of the "When the Heart Tightens" project.

Technology and artificial-intellect played significant roles in the artists' immersive residency at the ourwebsite Center. The TILT collective, winners of the cross-residency, used VR headsets and ECG sensors to create an emotional journey with immersive, interactive, and evolving storytelling, focusing on the relationship between humans and virtual environments.
