Nobel Prizes 2025: Who Will Be Honoured?
The Nobel Prizes, established in 1895, honour individuals and organisations for their significant contributions to humanity. Notably, there's no Nobel Prize for Mathematics, as Sweden already had a prestigious mathematics award at the time Alfred Nobel wrote his will. This year's laureates will be announced starting Monday, 6 October.
The Nobel Prizes are awarded annually in early October, with the ceremony taking place on 10 December in Stockholm, Sweden, and Oslo, Norway. The event is followed by a grand banquet in Stockholm for around 1,300 guests, and a smaller banquet in Oslo. Since 1901, only 66 women have been awarded a Nobel Prize, with Marie Curie being the first to win two. The youngest laureate is Malala Yousafzai, who received the Peace Prize at 17. The oldest laureate was John B. Goodenough, who won the Chemistry Prize at 97. Some Peace Prize laureates, like Carl von Ossietzky and Liu Xiaobo, couldn't personally accept their awards.
The Nobel Prizes, awarded since 1901, recognise exceptional contributions to humanity's progress. This year's laureates will be announced from 6 October, continuing the tradition of honouring outstanding individuals and organisations.
