Nissan's Managing Director, Saurabh Vatsa, predicts that the introduction of 3 new models will stimulate demand due to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Nissan, the renowned automobile manufacturer, is set to fortify its presence in India with a series of upcoming launches. The company sees India as a key hub for both domestic operations and exports, aiming to reach 100,000 units annually, including domestic and export volumes.
At the forefront of these launches is the B-MPV, which is scheduled for launch in early 2026. This new model will be based on the CMF-A platform, shared with the Renault Triber, and is expected to use the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The B-MPV will also feature a distinct design, with a revised front fascia, modified bumpers, and updated LED tail lamps.
Another addition to Nissan's growing portfolio is a C-SUV 7-seater, expected in early 2027. This model is currently in development, and while details are scarce, it has been spotted testing on Indian roads and exhibits a Patrol SUV-inspired stance.
In the meantime, Nissan is preparing to roll out a C-SUV 5-seater in the middle of 2026. This model will provide a welcome addition to Nissan's line-up, which is set to expand from 1 to 4 in the near future.
Nissan's Managing Director, Saurabh Vatsa, remains optimistic about the upcoming festive season for the automotive industry. He announced that the company's line-up will benefit from the revised GST structure, leading to more competitive pricing and greater affordability for consumers. This, coupled with the expected boost from the upcoming festive season, bodes well for Nissan's growth in India.
However, Nissan has no immediate plans for small vehicle segments. The Magnite SUV, which is the same model worldwide with only regulatory adjustments where required, continues to be a strong seller and is manufactured in India and exported globally.
Despite a fairly flat first half of the year for the automotive industry, according to Saurabh Vatsa, Nissan is confident in the success of its upcoming launches. The company is committed to delivering high-quality, affordable vehicles to its customers in India and beyond. With its expanded product lineup, Nissan is well-positioned to achieve its target of 100,000 units annually.
