Nissan Pays Homage to Z NISMO and Its Legacy Through Creation of Sushi Blade

The automotive world and the culinary realm have come together in an unexpected collaboration, resulting in the creation of the Z NISMO Precision Sushi Knife. This unique piece, a sushi knife numbered and adorned with the insignias of Kiryu and Chef Hiro, is the brainchild of Nissan and renowned knifemaker Satoshi Kiryu.

The collaboration seems to be a strategic move by Nissan to engage with enthusiasts and blend automotive culture with other lifestyle interests, such as food and design. The Z NISMO Precision Sushi Knife is a testament to this, merging Japanese culinary traditions with the spirit of the Z-car, a symbol of Japanese automotive performance and design.

The knife's design and creation process were a joint effort between Nissan Design USA and Satoshi Kiryu. Kiryu, who is the grandson of the founder of the knifemaker Kiryu, handcrafted the knife, overseeing the laser cutting, quenching, tempering, grinding, and polishing. The stainless steel blade features a black-dyed "kuro zome" finish using oxide film, while the handle is made of buffalo horn, a material reminiscent of the bodywork on the Nissan Z NISMO.

The Z NISMO Precision Sushi Knife is inspired by the Nissan Z NISMO, a track-focused variant of the Nissan Z. The design aims to represent the visual aesthetic of the Nissan Z NISMO, with a double-beveled blade for supreme precision and a red spacer on the handle, mirroring the bodywork on the Nissan Z NISMO.

The collaboration with YouTube-famous sushi chef Hiro Terada was integral to the creation of this limited-edition knife. Each of the 240 pieces, a nod to the original 240Z, comes in a black lacquered box with Nissan's logo and Chef Hiro's name on the outside. Inside the box, a depiction of the past six generations of Z models going back to the 240Z serves as a reminder of the rich history behind this iconic car.

The new chef's knife, named the Z NISMO Precision Sushi Knife, measures 8.27 inches in length. It is a limited edition, making it a prized possession for collectors and sushi chefs alike. The 2024 model of the Z NISMO, the most powerful production Z car ever made, with 420hp and 384lb.ft of torque, serves as a fitting companion to this exquisite sushi knife.

In conclusion, the Z NISMO Precision Sushi Knife is a testament to the power of collaboration and the fusion of different art forms. It is a unique piece that brings together the world of automotive performance and the precision of Japanese culinary craftsmanship.
