New electric sedan, Qin L, unveiled by BYD with tantalizing sneak peek

The Chinese automotive giant, BYD, has recently launched its latest electric vehicle (EV), the Qin L EV, aimed at a young and environmentally-conscious demographic. The Qin L EV is a 4-door, 5-seat mid-size sedan that boasts advanced electric features, a sleek design, and a focus on energy-efficient urban and highway driving.

The Qin L EV, riding on BYD's e-platform 3.0 evo, showcases the stylish "LoongFace" design. It offers a driving range between 470 to 545 km, depending on the version, and can output up to 272 PS (approx. 200 kW). The vehicle supports fast charging capabilities, with the first charging time estimated at around 0.3 hours.

Performance-wise, the Qin L EV boasts a maximum speed of approximately 200 km/h, making it a competitive mid-size EV sedan. The vehicle is equipped with smart driving features like smart DiPilot 100, focusing on efficiency and delivering a smooth driving experience.

In terms of dimensions, the Qin L EV measures approximately 4780 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, and 1490 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, providing ample space for passengers and cargo. The interior features a large digital display and advanced infotainment systems typical of BYD’s 2025 EV lineup.

The Qin L EV was launched in mid-2024 and has been approved for sale in China. It joins the Qin family, which includes the Qin Plus DM-i, the Qin Plus EV, and the Qin L DM-i. BYD, the manufacturer of the Qin L EV, also released its DM 5.0 hybrid technology in May 2024. However, no pricing information is available for the Qin L EV as of now.

In 2024, 732,252 units of the Qin family models were sold, contributing 17.14 percent of BYD's NEV sales. This strong performance has caught the attention of JPMorgan, which has raised its 2026 sales forecast for BYD to 6.5 million units from 6 million units.
