New AI creation from OpenAI's brilliant minds unveiled
OpenAI, the developer behind the popular AI model ChatGPT, has announced the launch of its new generation software, GPT-5. Scheduled for release in August 2025, GPT-5 promises to revolutionise the AI landscape with its enhanced capabilities and improved performance.
Currently, ChatGPT operates on GPT-4, but the promise is that GPT-5 will communicate at a level equivalent to an expert in every field with a PhD. This leap in sophistication is expected to make GPT-5 significantly smarter and faster than its predecessor.
ChatGPT, which launched at the end of 2022 and currently boasts nearly 700 million weekly users, will run on GPT-5 for free users in the future. The model was trained on Microsoft's cloud platform, Azure, and Microsoft is cooperating with OpenAI to integrate GPT-5 into its products, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot and GitHub Copilot.
GPT-5's key capabilities include advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills, better coding abilities, special personalities, improved factual accuracy, multimodal capabilities, and greater efficiency. It is designed to handle complex agentic tasks and tool calling with high accuracy, reducing hallucinations and improving context recognition.
In terms of software development, GPT-5 powers Microsoft's products, improving their abilities to handle complex questions, long conversations, and nuanced coding tasks within Visual Studio Code and other IDEs. Microsoft offers GPT-5 through Copilot Studio, enabling developers to build custom AI agents that automate complex business processes using GPT-5's agentic capabilities.
Companies like Amgen, Figma, Intercom, Lowe’s, Morgan Stanley, SoftBank, and T-Mobile have integrated GPT-5 via OpenAI's API to enhance enterprise workflows, increase productivity, and reimagine operations with AI assistance. GPT-5 supports new API features like a parameter for developers to control response length and detail, and it provides better error handling and tool instruction following, facilitating sophisticated software integration scenarios.
With its ability to create software on demand, as predicted by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, GPT-5 is positioned as the centrepiece AI model for transforming enterprise AI, software development, and integration across diverse sectors. It promises more intelligent automation, higher quality outputs, and more natural user interactions within professional and consumer applications.
GPT-5 is not the only player in the AI race. Alongside OpenAI, Anthropic, Elon Musk's xAI, Google, Meta, and other tech giants are competing for the leading position in the AI future. As the race heats up, one thing is certain: the future of AI is exciting, and GPT-5 is poised to lead the charge.
